Here are some fun ways to enjoy Lake Arrowhead Family Winter Fun in the San Bernardino Mountains during your stay at Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins!
Build a Snowman – Your family will enjoy making a unique Snowman. Make sure that the snow is packable – think moist, not flaky. If the snow is too powdery it will sift through your fingers like sand. Now that you have grade-A packable snow, take a handful and start shaping the snow into a ball. Keep packing until you have a huge round snowball. Start rolling it on the ground until it gets bigger, and bigger. Make three of them, you’ll want to stack your big snowballs from largest to smallest. It’s time for the fun part; accessorizing your Snowman. Get creative with fruit, veggies, hats, scarfs, clothing and even jewelry. And when you’re done, you deserve a mug of hot chocolate!
Make a Snow Angel – After the first dusting of snow it’s the perfect time that you put your snow gear on and run outside and make a snow angel! To make the perfect snow angel you need fresh snow that’s deep enough so you won’t see the ground behind it and the top should be powder. Slowly lay down butt first then flat on your back and spread your arms straight out. Then keep your arms as straight as you can and swing them almost to the top of your head and then almost straight at your sides. You only need to do this a couple times.
The whole family will love hiking the wintery trails while staying at Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins.
Go on a Winter Hike in the Forest – You and your family can have the time of your life hitting the snow covered trails in the forest of the San Bernardino mountains. Don’t let old man winter put a stop to your kid’s active outdoor lifestyle. Everyone will enjoy the fresh crisp air, beautiful scenery, and getting some great exercise. But you need to be prepared for the winter elements which increase your risk of exposure, hypothermia and frostbite. By adding some safety winter survival skills, proper gear, clothing, flexibility, and common sense, you can build fun winter hiking memories with your kids. Make sure to take lots of photos!
