"Pine Rose in a 7 years olds Eyes" By Nathan Temple

My name is Nathan Temple. I am 8 years old. Last year when I was 7 years old we went to Pine rose Cabins. We stayed in the Fishermen's Cabin. My favorite part about staying was when I saw the fish in the little pond by our cabin. The colors of the fish are orange, black, red, and orange with black dots. They are little fish. There is only one big fish.  I also had fun playing checkers with my brother and my dad by the swimming pool. It was the biggest game I have ever played in my life. The colors of the wood were black and red. I beat my dad 5 times in a row. What I think was cool in our cabin was the fish that was on the wall and the fireplace that was big. I really liked when my dad made a fire in the fireplace. I also took my dog with us to the cabin and I would take her for walks by the bridge and by the other cabins. The End

"Good Memories Live On" By Michelle Jensen-Torres

Dear Pine Rose Cabins,
This is a photo of my late sister Christina Jensen-Owens.  For several years, my family and I would spend time with our parents at your cabin in Twin Peaks.  How fun we would have trying out different cabins.  I myself spent my honeymoon in your most Romantic Cabin for two…great photos I must say!   But, my sister Christina who had been with her boyfriend Aidan, of ten years, and had finally set a date to become husband and wife on July 23, 2000. They planned their wedding to be held in Arrowhead, but had family and friends from around the country stay at your cabins for all to enjoy.  “Boy, did we!”  Your themed cabins were a hit.  It was one of the happiest times for all of us being together.  We ate, drank, had a party for all to enjoy, got her dressed, prepped, and on her way.  Little we did not know this would be our last time together as a family.  On October 19, 2000, nine years tomorrow, we lost Christina trying to be a mommy.  Both Aidan and Christina announced they were expecting a baby just shortly after their honeymoon.  She died due to complications of an ectopic pregnancy.  You can imagine how devastated we became and to have to call family and friends and tell them the news.  Over and over again, we heard comforting voices thanking us for having the time of their lives there at Pine Rose.  The pictures from your place speak louder than words.  The best part was that Pine Rose was part of that celebration and nine years later still has a place in our hearts.  You made that possible by offering your business to family, such as ours.  We cannot live life sad, but move on in a direction that frees us from sadness.  You put a smile on our face and we need to get that back, another positive memory sketched in our memory.  Time, people, and places change, but making the time to spend together can be possible, and you will again be part of that follow-up memory.

First Snow by Victoria and Kaitlyn Moran

I first became aware of the Lake Gregory and Lake Arrowhead area when I was 8 years old.  My parents rented a cabin in Lake Gregory over Thanksgiving and as the day grew the snow began to fall.  It was my first memory of snow.  Soon after that year, my father decided to build a cabin in Crestline, just below North Road and Pine Rose cabins.  Year after year we would drive by Pine Rose.  My family had since sold the cabin my father built, but I still felt a special feeling to that mountain area.  I wanted to share this feeling with my then 3 year old daughter.  I had found Pine Rose Cabins on the internet, not really certain exactly where it was but was familiar with the area.  I was in tears the first time I drove to Pine Rose, realizing I had seen these cabins so many times for so many years, and bringing back so many wonderful family memories.

Since finding Pine Rose, we have stayed at here for the last 3 years, just before Christmas.  Our first year we stayed at Little House, then Fisherman’s Hideaway and this year we chose the Blue Jay cabin.  I love that each cabin is decorated for Christmas, but last year we had an extra special memory to be made.  My daughter saw her first snow fall at Pine Rose. We woke the next morning and took a walk around the trails, and on the fresh fallen snow, we made our very own special memories.  Nothing beats the feeling of fresh fallen snow, except for having your child see it for the very first time.  Catching snowflakes with your tongue, making fresh tracks in the soft powder and of course the snowball fight.  It was the perfect memory for us, and something we talk about throughout the year while we await for our annual visit for Christmas.

Victoria , and Kaitlyn,

Make Memory Contest

All of us at Pine Rose love to hear your stories about your memories at our cabins. We have some families who have been staying with us for over 50 years now. Kids that learn to swim in our pool now have kids of their own, and in some cases grandchildren swimming in our pool. That is really special to us.

We believe simple treasured moments are the best. Seeing your first snow, watching fish in a stream or playing a game of checkers.

A big thanks to all the entries
